Hunting Dog Seminar 2025

Come join the Standing Stone Team August 15th-17th for some customized dog training, Q&A and camaraderie!!

Puppies and Advanced Dogs Welcome! We will be able to help puppies with exposure and introductions to water, birds, gunfire, pointing, collar conditioning, whoa training and retrieving! We will be able to help dogs with more advanced goals with field steadiness, backing drills, duck search, water and land marking drills and the trained retrieve. Plus we will be going over some canine field first aid! And of course are always happy to answer your questions!

This will be a big weekend! We will start the weekend off with a Friday Night Social Hour to meet everyone and chat about training goals! Then we meet at the Kennel early Saturday morning and it will be a full day of training, including field work, water work, demos and also time for discussion and Q&A on the events of the day followed up with an evening meal! Then join us again Sunday morning to work on specific areas you and your dog need a little extra help! Finally we will wrap up of the weekend with a followup discussion and evaluation of how the weekend went!

The seminar fee covers: training, birds and meals.

Recommended local accommodations available for an additional fee.

Handler: a participant who brings their dog

Observer: a participant who comes to ask questions, join in a demonstration, etc

Plus one(s): non-participant - bringing your significant other or family member and this helps cover their food/drinks

Prerequisites: shot records proving vaccinations for: rabies, annual distemper combo, kennel cough, and canine influenza

Please be careful when you check out - you’ll need to select the correct amount of “add-ons” (additional people coming to learn with you).

Please note that we are not responsible for your transportation to the seminar.

Cancellation Policy:

No refunds within 7 days of the seminar.

50% refunds within 30 days of the seminar.

Seminar fees cannot be transferred to future seminars.

Please understand that it takes time to fill seminar spots so cancellations late in the game make it harder to get spots filled, as well as headcount for prepayments for food and birds happens in advance.

Please bring the equipment you normally train with!

Things to bring:

Dog (unless you are planning on only observing)

A chair if possible

Your training equipment (e-collar, leash, check cord, water bottles for your dog, food for your dog, blank pistol, etc.)

Comfortable shoes and pants appropriate to walk through the field, orange hat and shirt/vest, hearing protection, etc.

Vaccination records for your dogs showing proof of rabies, annual distemper combo, kennel cough, and canine influenza.

Flea & Tick preventative for you and your dog

1 pm - 5 pm - Afternoon Break Outs Based on Morning Training

6 pm - 8:30 pm - Dinner at Inspired Dining (provided)

Sunday:

7:30 am - Arrive at Standing Stone Kennels - Coffee and Doughnuts Available

8 am - 12 pm - Morning Training Based on Saturday’s Evaluation

12 pm - 12:45 pm - Lunch (provided)

1 pm - 2 pm - Follow Up Q&A Discussion
